To help the owner of a single-family home age in place and support intergenerational living, a 2-story addition is being built on the back of the home to house her daughter. The addition has been designed as an in-law suite with its own kitchen, living and dining area, half bathroom, and coat closet on the first floor and a primary bedroom with full ensuite bathroom and walk-in closet on the second floor. The addition will also have a large deck off the first floor and a balcony for the bedroom on the second floor. The addition has been designed to include an interior door that connects directly to the main house for easy access between the mother and daughter while also having a more formal exterior entrance on the side of the addition. The addition will include its own electric heating/cooling system and domestic hot water tank.
